Welcome.
My name is Shanna Crosby-Wilson and I am a special education teacher with the Omaha Public Schools.
This is the culminating project for my graduate work at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, toward a Master of Science Degree in Instructional Technology, School Library Concentration.
On this site, there are links to my education and professional background. There are also artifacts that represent my academic achievements and experiences within the program. These projects, along with reflective statements, can be accessed via the ALA/AASL Standards page as they are linked to each standard respectively. Some projects will also be linked under the Collaboration page, as collaboration and co-teaching have been a large part of my current position, as well as the focus of my research project.
I believe that the artifacts showcase not only what I have learned in my current position, in my journey through the Instructional Technology Program, but also what I can bring to a school and a library media center. I have grown, not only in my teaching abilities, but also in my views as to what the job of librarian means and what they can do to create a collaborative learning environment that is engaging and enlightening to not only the students, but to the staff as well. I think that the most valuable experience in the program was the time that I spent in the field with the current librarian. One can read all about the job of school librarian, but until time is actually spent in the trenches, you never really understand all the different aspects. I have gained a lot of respect for our librarian, and hope that I am able to be lucky enough to have my own library one day as well.
